Brian Sadden
Mr. Sadden has performed assignments around the world on high (and sometime innovative) CFRDs up to 205 m, RCC structures in excess of 220 m, and associated large hydro projects in Europe (Iceland), the USA, Asia and South America. He took a short time away from Stantec to manage the engineering – for the San Francisco Public Utility Commission – of the (seismic) rebuild of the Hetch Hetchy water system providing water to San Francisco and more than twenty other cities.
After returning to Stantec, he has led the design, or planning, for a high RCC dam in Alaska, for various planning projects in the US and overseas, and is currently busy leading the design teams at Stantec associated with a 160 m high RCC dam in Nepal and the Inga project in the DRC, which is commencing implementation as a design/finance/build/operate project and includes the closure of the Congo river and a power plant with a capacity exceeding 11,000 MW.
He has had the privilege to serve on Boards of Consultants – or IPOEs – for dams in Malaysia, Pakistan, and Lesotho, and is approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as an Independent Consultant under Pt 12 regulations, and is thus approved for inspections of all types of large hydro dams in the USA.
