Kara is a Managing Director leading RBC’s Australian renewables and energy transition investment banking practice in Sydney. With over 20 years of experience in finance and M&A, Kara has advised clients on transactions across renewables, power and utilities, energy, energy transition and technology sectors. Kara is currently leading coverage and transactions in the renewables, offshore wind, electric vehicle charging and long-duration energy storage space.
Prior to rejoining RBC, Kara led Wells Fargo’s Power, Utility, and Renewables M&A practice where she advised infrastructure investors, renewables developers, and water, gas and electric utilities for eight years on the sale, merger, or acquisition of both public and private businesses across the United States.
Kara began working with renewables and energy transition companies over 18 years ago and has run sale and buyside processes for utility scale wind and solar generation, distributed generation, offshore wind, BESS, transition fuel and generation, transmission, hydroelectric and geothermal power generation throughout her career.
She has advised on complicated and sensitive transactions including unsolicited and hostile situations, mergers of equals evaluating and integrating complex platforms, and has navigated tangled governance and ownership structures to achieve the aligned objectives needed to transact. She has completed over US$25 billion dollars of M&A transactions throughout her career.
